Stoneleigh Data Analytics and Our Approach

1. What makes Stoneleigh Data Analytics different from other recruiters?

Stoneleigh Data Analytics focuses 100% on data analytics. Unlike traditional recruiters, we specialise exclusively in this field, ensuring a deep understanding of your skills and aspirations. Generic recruitment agencies often lack the technical knowledge to truly appreciate the nuances of data analytics, which is why we provide a tailored, expert-driven service.

2. How can I become a candidate in the data analyst talent pool?

Stoneleigh Data Analytics focuses on fewer candidates to maintain high skill levels, service standards and to ensure you get the personalised attention you need to succeed. We do not promote candidates who lack the core academic skills requested by employers. Please book a conversation slot with us to discuss your specific circumstances.

3. Why don’t you advertise roles like other agencies?
Stoneleigh Data Analytics operates in reverse to traditional recruitment agencies as your data analytic skills are very specialised and specific. We develop candidates first and then work directly with clients to understand their specific data analytics requirements. We don’t advertise roles because we pro-actively match candidates to opportunities based on their skills, location, and aspirational start date. This targeted approach means that if you have the right skills, your chances of securing a role are significantly higher.
4. Why do you focus exclusively on candidates with mathematics-related degrees or high mathematic content degrees?
Mathematics is the foundation of successful data analysis. A degree in a mathematics-related subject ensures you have the essential problem-solving and numerical skills required to excel in data analytics roles. We also proactively work with Computer Science and Business degree candidates.
5. Do I need the right to work in the UK to apply through Stoneleigh Data Analytics?
Yes, candidates must have the right to work in the UK. Some employers may be willing to support applications requiring visa sponsorship or other right-to-work arrangements but Stoneleigh Data Analytics cannot guarantee successful employment.
6. Can Stoneleigh Data Analytics match me to a start date that works for me?
Absolutely. We ask candidates for an aspirational start date, allowing you to plan for a well-deserved post-graduation holiday. Once we know your target start date, we will contact you three months in advance to start your recruitment process.

Job Matching and Skills Validation

7. How do you ensure the jobs you offer align with my skills and interests?
We carefully evaluate your skills, preferences, and goals, matching you to roles tailored to your strengths and aspirations.
8. What is the skills test, and why is it important?

To ensure the right fit, we ask candidates to complete a short skills test lasting approximately 60 minutes. This helps validate your expertise, especially in the Data Analytic tools that employers demand you have on Day 1 of your employment. We are also evaluating your soft skills such as “story telling” from the data. The test is not a “pass” or “fail” but the way you answer the questions will help us understand where you are with your skills and what you may need to develop to get hired. We recognize that all candidates may not fully complete every element of the test, but it will show both you and us where improved skills would be useful, especially to be able to demonstrate to employers your competency level. Also understanding your skill levels helps Stoneleigh Data Analytics to match you to a role which aligns with your abilities.

9. What resources will Stoneleigh Data Analytics provide to help me validate my skills?
We offer a range of downloadable resources to help you validate and verify your skills. These materials will help you gain confidence in your abilities and ensure you’re well-prepared for your future role. We are also open to discuss your skill level and recommend pathways forward. Please book a conversation slot online to speak with us.
10. Will you help me fill any gaps in my skills?
In the skills test, we will both identify potential skill gaps but it is up to you to fill these knowledge gaps. During the review process we will provide guidance on how to upskill through training resources and relevant learning pathways. The more work you do to upgrade your skills, the more valuable you will make yourself to your new employer.

Recruitment Process and Support

11. How will you help me stand out in a competitive job market?
We provide help to write your CV with a data analyst role in mind, this is crucial. You must highlight your strengths. Our materials will also coach you on presenting your skills effectively. Our tailored matching process ensures that your profile aligns with the specific needs of employers.
12. How do you communicate updates about my application?

We will communicate regularly as we have a relatively small talent pool. We will aim to communicate via your preferred method (e.g. mobile, text, LinkedIn, E-mail). We also provide a free booking system so you can schedule a free call slot with our consultants when needed.

13. Will I receive feedback on the skills test?

Yes, once you have done the skills test, we will provide honest feedback and advice to help you improve. This ensures you’re better prepared for future opportunities.

14. Will you provide feedback if I’m rejected from a job?
Absolutely. The very nature of interviewing for a job is that there are several candidates and only one succeeds. Employers are usually happy to give feedback and Stoneleigh Data Analytics will do what we can to communicate this back to you. Feedback is crucial for growth, and we’ll give you actionable insights to help improve your chances in future applications.
15. What should I do to make the most of Stoneleigh Data Analytics’ services?
Please book a slot to talk to us. Talking is still the best way to communicate. Be open about your goals and challenges, take advantage of our coaching and upskilling advice, and keep in regular contact with us to stay aligned
16. Will you support me after I get a job?
Yes, our ongoing support service (named “Data Analytics Momentum”) is designed to help you and the employer ensure you’re always improving and staying competitive. We encourage employers to provide a 2-year development package, and you’ll always have access to us for career advice or future opportunities.

Job-Specific Information

17. What types of projects will I work on?
Projects vary but often include analysing datasets, building dashboards, and identifying actionable insights for business growth. Often Business Intelligence is used by the top management in businesses, so very often Data Analysts are engaged very rapidly to support senior management within a business which is very exciting.
18. What tools and technologies will I use?
Typical tools include Excel, SQL, Python, R, Power BI, and Tableau, depending on the specific role. Stoneleigh Data Analytics has chosen to focus on Excel, SQL and Power BI in our training and development, but any upskilling you do is readily transferable to other toolsets.
19. What training or mentorship is available?
Many of our clients offer structured onboarding and mentorship to ensure you transition smoothly into your role. Stoneleigh Data Analytics discusses this subject with clients when requirements are taken on board as we believe this is a very important factor for candidates. We recommend to clients our “Data Analytics Momentum” programme which if taken by the client allows employees a training session with Stoneleigh Data Analytics once every two weeks in a session with your peers.
20. Will I be working on-site, remotely, or in a hybrid setup?
Work arrangements depend on the employer. We clarify expectations upfront, so you know what to expect.
21. What opportunities for growth exist in the company?
Clients often offer clear progression paths, enabling you to develop skills and advance into senior or specialized roles. Remember, data analytics is a industry many want to enter but has skills based barriers to entry. With the support of Stoneleigh Data Analytics, you can make this entry and then build from there.
23. Will you help me if I need a “Skills Visa” for work in the UK.

Yes, we will work with candidates from non-UK countries who require a UK “Skills Visa” for a role in the UK. This will not prevent us putting candidates forward to clients, but the decision on whether to sponsor a candidate will be the decision of the employer alone. Stoneleigh Data Analytics cannot take any responsibility for this employer decision.

Diversity and Inclusion

23. How do you support diversity in your placements?
Stoneleigh Data Analytics actively seeks to include diverse candidates in our shortlists and partners with employers to promote inclusive hiring practices.
